The powerful presence of Melissa Greene's pots stems from the way they balance the narrative and the decorative. Some of them describe her past–plants and animals in places she's lived, like the Atlantic coast and the Maine mountains–while others tell of the strength and creativity she sees among women in other cultures. "Listening to stories as a child really activated my imagination." Now Greene is telling the stories, and we're the lucky ones listening.*
The Greene Ziner gallery features the painted ceramic vessels of Melissa Greene and Eric Ziner's forged iron furnishings and sculpture. The gallery is located in a 1820's post and beam barn, on the Reach Rd at the north end of Deer Isle, Maine.
